Future plans

Hey all hope all is good I know it's been a while. Just wanted to let you all know that this trip isn't over. Right now I'm leaving for Uganda on Dec. 31st with my friend Taylor. We'll be working in orphanages, on farms and laying the ground work for the digging of two wells which will be done on a 2nd trip in late spring/early summer. If anyone has fundraising ideas, travel tips, or just thoughts in general I'd love to hear them. Also, probably a few weeks to a month after I get back from that I'll be flying to Australia to visit friends and see the country. I'd like to work in a hostel or two while I'm there (Hopefully I'll stay for 4 months or so.) I'll also be traveling to New Zealand, Hawaii and California. Again any ideas tips etc... would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

London pictures

Thank you bookloft for the magnets!
No it's not a church. It's the natural history museum. Yup

Both above are still the Natural history museum. And that's only one room!

Can you find it? Lot of questions from that
Glad I won't ever meet this guy. Not sure if you can tell the size but I would easily fit in his mouth. One bite

Bit of a situation

Ok first of all, sorry I haven't posted in a while. There's only one computer where I'm at so getting on long enough to post is a little tough. Right now I'm in London and I'm really having a good time. It's a pretty big city which is new (Dublin really wasn't that big-London is huge) but I'm in a pretty cool spot close to everything but not actually right in the heart of the madness. I've got a lot of pictures-hopefully I can get a few of those up today. Anyway, I've got a bit of a situation going on back home that I have to take care of. So, I'm flying home on Thursday. I'll hopefully spend a month there sorting things out before flying out to Australia. Rather than try to pick up the trip where I left off (which would mean I lose about a grand and a lot of time) I'm going to skip that bit (Regretfully-it was gonna be a lot of fun and I was really looking forward to seeing the family and Mohammed) and just pick it up at a later point in the itinerary. Hopefully, this 1.) works out as far as the situation and an Australian visa and 2.) Means I can travel around Australia more as well as going to New Zealand, Hawaii, California and maybe now I'll even be able to pull off Brazil. We'll see! For right now, I'm going to go to the Australian Embassy here in London and see what is possible. I'll let you all know as soon as I can.

London

Ok so yesterday took the ferry from Dublin to Holyhead. That was pretty cool. The eggs on the ferry were terrible and you should've seen the looks I got it was hilarious. Some people were already a bit green I think the idea of eating eggs probably didn't help them (the taste sure didn't help me but I had a full thermos of good coffee so it was aright). Anyway I took a train from there to London (I'll be going back to Northern Wales it was beautiful). By the time I got to London it was mid afternoon and it took me several hours to find the hostel (Equity Point in Paddington). it didn't help that I took the right bus in the wrong direction for a good hour and a half before getting on the one going the right way...I ended up having to make up the lost distance plus keep going on to Paddington which, of course, was wayyy at the end of the line. But oh well I made it so no big deal. Today probably going to take a tour of London and actually switch hostels. Tomorrow...I'm not sure. probably jump on a train and head North-West to the Welsh coast. We'll see. Anyway I've got pictures (and I'm about to have a lot more) I'll throw those up when I can. Hope all is well wherever you're reading this from.

Dublin to Holyhead

Ok so in about an hour I'll be on a ferry from here to Holyhead, Wales. From there I'll take a train to London and I'll be meeting up with Kassel and his group by this evening. I'll probably only spend a day or two in London before I head out to Bath. Somewhere in there I want to go see Stonehenge and if things work out I might go play rugby in Wales (Near Cardiff I think) before heading back through London and then on to France. Any suggestions/ideas? Plans aren't very set so lemme know.

Update

Ok so in the past couple of days I went from Longford, back to Galway and picked up the package (thanks mom & dad that was awesome of you) then headed out here to Dublin. I'll be here until Monday afternoon. The plan is to meet up with Kassel this weekend and then take a ferry across the Irish sea out to Holyhead, England. From there.....I don't really know yet. Spend a few days in Southern England (London, Stonehenge, etc) before heading to France. We'll see how it works out!

Kept on rollin

Headed out of Galway today I'm currently back in Longford for a few days. I'll post pics of old family house/gravestone and I'll do my best to find out relations and such. I already got an idea from my last visit but we'll see if I can find anything new.

Inishmore (Biggest of the Aran Islands)

Found some ruins that were "closed for repair" not that they tried to keep anybody out so...

Ok no time to comment on all now but I will in a bit from Longford and I have more to upload

Even more from Dingle

this and the ones following are from the ridge north of Dingle. You can see all the way around the peninsula! pretty amazing

This is the top side of the peninsula. /\

Beehive huts-imagine trying to sleep with a stone roof and no mortar! Pretty intense. These are actually wicked cool some date to c.2000 BC and they were built with no mortar. Stones we're angled down on the outside making them waterproof. Pretty neat.

Yup, I have starte doing this. Jeans take FOREVER to dry.
